What is a Private Pilates class and Why would I do one?
Are you interested in Pilates and not sure where to start? Do you have a ongoing injury or have ongoing pain? Do you feel a group class overwhelming? Or would you like a personalized program to suit your bodies needs to accelerate your specific health goals?
Pilates is all about posture and alignment. If you think of your skeleton and how your muscles, ligaments, and tendons hold your bones, when muscles become weak or tight they pull your bones out of alignment causing tension and strain on muscles, tendons, and ligaments. What happens is you end up having constant pain in the body from these imbalances.
In a private pilates session we can look at your posture and muscles, find any imbalances or improper movement patterns and help you bring your body back to a balanced state so you can live pain and tension free.
Our studio classes are designed for either 1:1 or 1:2 sessions with one of our qualified pilates instructors. A 1:1 session will be you and the instructor and a 1:2 session will be you and another client. Please book an initial appointment before any other sessions.
WHAT IS AN INITIAL APPOINTMENT? DO I NEED TO DO ONE?
Yes, if it is your first studio session with us, Please book an initial appointment first. Each initial session will begin by going over any injuries, conditions or goals you may have. Next will come your full posture analysis and muscle testing. We will then give you an in depth explanation of the Pilates principles while applying them with basic exercises to test and help you to gain the understanding of breathing, and proper core activation, We will continue to layer in more of the principles with your exercises so you can not only understand it but feel it in your body.
Once we have gathered the information we need in your initial, we can then start to create your customised program that will suit what your body needs to get to your goal.
Private sessions are suitable for all levels.

Proper alignment balances your skeleton so your muscles are held at their ideal length, without tension. If your body is constantly held out of proper alignment, it places a great strain on your muscles, ligaments, and joints. Improper alignment will reduce your body’s ability to react to the force of gravity, resulting in aches and pains and inhibited movement. Pilates gives you an opportunity to learn to correct your misalignments and allow your muscles to work as efficiently as they should.As you exercise, you should always strive to correct your alignment because it will directly impact on the effectiveness of your workout.
